When we started Airline Debacles three years ago, it started out as a tongue-in-cheek way of pointing out people’s odd behavior on planes and at the airports.  It was a unique approach to sharing these quirky news stories involving travel, and for all this time, quite frankly, it’s been fun!  A few weeks ago, we covered the story of a woman who squatted in the aisle, threatened to urinate (but did not) and began yelling obscenities and threats.  The legal system has filed now charges against her that could strip away her freedom and levy $355,000 in fines.  While we are not apologizing for, nor minimizing her behavior, this is outrageous and the penalty does not fit the crime.

Now it’s clear.

What we are seeing is the Weaponization of the No-Fly List.  By using a person’s behavior on a plane as a yardstick (during a stressful time) the government is working in collaboration with the airlines to control who is allowed to travel by air and who is not.
