ALL ABOUT ELIZABETH DOUGHERTY

I love to cook! And, I have been cooking and writing about food for more than ten years. As the fourth generation of chefs and gourmet grocers in my family, my mother, Francesca Esposito and grandmother, Carmella served as major influences in my early cooking years. As a teenager, my family sent me to Europe where I became focused on French and Italian cuisine. She survived a year and half of culinary tutelage under an amazing Swiss-German chef.  I managed to graduate at NYIT, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business and Labor Relations. In addition, also have a Nutrition Certificate from Cornell University.

Then, I taught cooking classes, and served as a personal chef for individuals and small parties.  Occasionally, I consulted for restaurants and other food service organizations in menu development as well as cost saving measures. As a freelance writer, I have written hundreds of articles for many different publications.  Then, we created and developed the popular “Food and Travel Nation” page on Facebook.

In 2010, I created a light-hearted, entertaining, informative radio program, “Food Nation Radio”.  It’s a mix of everything FOOD, including guest interviews, recipes and food/restaurant related features.

With previous memberships in the International Association of Culinary Professionals, the James Beard Foundation and National Restaurant Association, I have tried to keep abreast of the current and ever-changing trends in the culinary world.

  1. Ivermectin is Ivermectin, whether in tablet or paste form. The difference is in dosage per Kg of body weight, therefore requiring one to reduce the amount if using a tube of the “horse paste” by using the weight scale imprinted on the plunger.

    I think the “multiple reports” you refer to can be counted on one hand worldwide, so it can be written off as a few people who didn’t follow directions (sort of like someone who overdoses on alcohol. So there’s no reason for fear-mongering — Ivermectin is a Nobel prize winner proven to have saved millions of lives.

    Keep in mind that the FDA also approved Chantix (causes cancer), tobacco, etc., and has proven itself untrustworthy in the face of this pandemic hoax. Note also that they have multiple people on their board from the Big Pharma companies, placed in positions from which they can influence sales and stock prices. So there’s a huge reason they’re trying to demonize a cheap and effective cure.

    Since Ivermectin has a stellar track record over decades and the “other side” only has a record of billions of dollars in court settlements because of maimings and death resulting from their greedy quest for profit, I’ll stick with Ivermectin if necessary.

  2. COVID-19. We’ve lived with it, sometimes seemingly forever. Given the number of deaths caused by the disease, it is perhaps not surprising that some consumers are turning to drugs that are not approved or authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    One of the FDA’s jobs is to carefully evaluate the scientific data on a drug to ensure that it is safe and effective for a particular use. In some cases, it can be perilous to use a drug that has not been approved by the FDA or authorized for emergency use to prevent or treat COVID-19.

    There appears to be increasing unlimited wireless internet interest in a drug called ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19 in humans. Specific animal formulations of ivermectin, such as pour-on, injectable, paste, and “dip” formulations, are approved in the United States to treat or prevent parasites in animals. For humans, ivermectin tablets are approved in precise doses to treat some parasites, and there are topical (dermal) formulations for the treatment of skin conditions such as head lice and rosacea.

    However, the FDA has received multiple reports of patients requiring medical attention, including hospitalization, after self-administration of ivermectin for use in livestock.
