TASTE TEST – GHOST PEPPER SOUP

NO LONGER OPEN. Nitally’s Thai Mex Restaurant Challenge

Nitally’s Thai Mex Restaurant Challenge – All I did was ask a question on Facebook, and this whole thing started. What’s the spiciest dish in Tampa Bay? The response from listeners and readers was nearly unanimous.

Nitally’s Thai Mex Restaurant is located at 2462 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. Their Inferno Soup is renowned in these parts because no one, no one has ever been able to finish it. It’s made with some of the hottest peppers on Earth, including ghost peppers with a Scoville unit rating debated to be at around 1.5 to 2 million units of heat.

The Inferno Soup costs $49.99 if you don’t finish it, but if you do finish it, you win $1,000. Keep in mind you have to sign a waiver holding them harmless for any liability involved with eating this soup.

Three people have been sent to the hospital already from this challenge. Are you up for it?

Michael Serio of  Food And Travel Nation said he would take the challenge. Here’s a sound clip from the live broadcast while he ate the Inferno Soup.
